I liked Charlotte's Web but we read it at school which invariably spoiled books for me.

Alison - yes, Milly Molly Mandy - absolutely wonderful.

Tea Lady - I haven't come across I like this story - it sounds brilliant. I know of I like this poem which was also fun but not a gateway in the same way.verityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16825551404394913715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2203825390310863045.post-35308881907235529502010-06-14T19:47:36.631+01:002010-06-14T19:47:36.631+01:00I used to love Sara and Steven Corrin's Puffin...I used to love Sara and Steven Corrin's Puffin anthologies of stories called 'Stories for 6 Year Olds', 'Stories For 8 Year Olds', 'More Stories For 7 Year Olds' etc.

I also own a collection called 'I Like This Story' which is a taste of fifty children's books selected by Kaye Webb. It introduced me to The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Borrowers, Tom's Midnight Garden and others. I love 'gateway' books like this which lead you to countless others!tea ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02677205938522236209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2203825390310863045.post-47653549289385632132010-06-14T18:23:52.524+01:002010-06-14T18:23:52.524+01:00Well, I voted for "The Family From One End St...Well, I voted for "The Family From One End Street" in the top 7, but my heart belongs to "Milly Molly Mandy" My Gran used to read the stories to me & we often attempted stuff from the books, I remember the Sailor Girls & making a tea cosy from scraps - happy days :)Ali Malhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01595941215998565255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2203825390310863045.post-72912278625000670682010-06-14T17:25:08.762+01:002010-06-14T17:25:08.762+01:00Oh my, it just has to be Charlotte's Web, whic...Oh my, it just has to be Charlotte's Web, which I read when young and then read to my girls, one of whom will one day soon be reading it her own.

What a charming review of Puffin books and all involved. I had no idea of the history of Puffin and what a great collection you have, which, from the tone of your review, will surely grow and grow.

You made my day!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
